We are still in The Reclaimer Saga

 A fair minority of you enjoy my work on reddit and even less on twitter, so I’ve decided to make my work more in a longer/broken down styled layout. My work isn’t fancy and there will possibly be an abundance of spelling errors so my apologies in advance. 

Having a lot of people enjoy my breakdown of the possible Original take on Halo 5: Guardians story. I’ve begin to think upon the current story and have a theory I’d like to share with everyone. To surmise it briefly it’s about 2 things, The Endless and their position in this Universe and the result being us still in the Reclaimer Saga. With that let’s begin, shall we ? 

I’ve gathered a few points I’ll touch upon and begin to explain in longer detail intertwining what and who I think The Endless are in the Halo Universe. 

* Time is a Construct we Cannot control (Halo Infinite Legendary Ending) 

* It’s History is complicated, constantly rewritten. But why ? (Despondent Pyre, Monitor Report Audio Log 01)

* Master Chief and the Weapon travel foreward in time 3 days (Halo Infinite) 

* The Endless possibly having a “Peculiar Attunement” towards Living Time (Halo Encyclopedia 2022) 

The other piece I’ll leave has less of a connection to all the above but once the pieces fit, I think it’ll be all but crucial piece to the puzzle.

* The Librarian mentions that Living Time is at an Imbalance, it needs its Heroes and Villains . Once the Precursors were wiped out by their own creation The Forerunners, the Imbalance occurred. 

Now we have those points out of the way. My own personal theory of the Endless was their Technology was attuned to Living Time, that they would manipulate time to bring things and themselves only forward, through that harming the Universe through some sort of Reconciliation Debt and becoming infamous towards the Precurors who at the time upheld the Mantle. But my theory wasn’t never solid and I thought we hadn’t been given enough information to form a picture of what and who the Endless could be to the Universe. Until today. Allow my to get a little out of the box for a moment. 

Living Time is construct created on the basis of Theism. The Universe is a living entity, built from ideals of obtaining all possible knowledge. What we have in Halo is The Domain(also known as The Organon) from what it’s described in the Forerunner Trilogy as Respository of Information and Knowledge with a swirl of past, present and almost future like entries. It exists on a different plain of existance. The possibility of History being rewritten but just that possibilities. The Mantle of Responsiblity covers this known Galaxy, a law of fine rules that ensure prosperity towards life. Living time fits within or besides the Mantle, Co Existing. 

As of late I’ve been wondering how the first conversation between Precursors and Forerunners went down. That time and era has been explored minimally leaving it as a mysterious time that has been long forgotten, and halo often falls on having an unreliable narrator at times. This part is untouched for now but could potentially fill missing gaps lost to time. 

All signs however point to the Endless being connected to Time, Living Time. Time being a construct the Forerunners cannot control, but the Endless might. They atleadt have an understanding towards it that other species  do not. The theory I have is that they are the “Stewards of Time” in charge and control of correcting imbalances within it. We do not know what happened during Forerunner first contact with Precursors, but perhaps they do. If there is a semblance of relation to the Precursors we have yet to discover it. But wait, if they are then how did chief manage to kill one ? That’s where the Theory takes an enormous leap of faith, we’re the bridge has to gapped. “Time will forget they ever existed” what if being trapped in the cylixes has severed their power and “attunement” to Living Time, rendering them weaker, useless. History being rewritten on the ring, something more or less, someone has been scouring the Domain trying to find the long forgotten Endless in hopes of freeing them. Maybe even a construct perhaps, one that looks an awful lot like The Harbinger herself. Yep, Abaddon! 

Abaddon is believed to be a Precursor equivalent to an Ancilla/AI. But after the Encyclopedia released with an image of Abaddon, it looks like The Harbingers species of the Xalanyn. A connection between the two species or soft retcon? The Domain was believed to have been offline due to the firing of multiple Halo Arrays, obviously another Imbalance of Living Time, perhaps maybe the worse of all. But another thing happened also, an uncatergorized species was found right before indexing started. The Endless Themselves were found making me believe they were there to fix Living Time. However the only spanner in this theory is that they thought The Forerunners were here to help. Perhaps they didn’t know the truth that the Forerunners had failed their test from the Precursors ? Is that also the truth The Grand Edict was talking about in the Legendary ending ? The Forerunners have been known to be on the wrong side and quick to assume roles that were not given to them. A hidden piece of audio is found if you linger in the room were Despondent Pyre was dissembled and had her Encephalon stolen. The Grand Edict, another Foreunner, Despondant Pyre and yes The Iso-Didact all converse in agreement to lock away the Endless, but one bit keeps me. “Balanced Restored!” Is this the same Balance the Librarian talked about, is the “truth” The Grand Edict talked about, once again the Forerunners being wrong and assumptions once more, they were not infact the Sole Caretakers of this Galaxy. 

Two more bits have come to my attention that could attribute to this theory, Mendicant Bias whose name is Begger after knowledge.(possibly a nod towards the Domain) Through the terminals seeks penance from his creator and sends chief to seek The Didact and free him from his slumber, I believe this sets in motion the Reclaimer Saga as a whole. As it would be if Mendicant Bias didn’t send chief who had Cortana with him to free the Didact, she wouldn’t have sacrificed herself to save him, her fragmented personality strand wouldn’t have entered the Domain and convinced herself of Inheritor of the Mantle. How did she discover that Zeta Halo held secrets worse than the Flood, why was she there for the Endless. Was Mendicant Bias still under the influence of the Primodial(whose other name was The Timeless One by the way) or was Abaddon manipulating a multitude of personalities to free the Endless and restore Balance. 

I’ll leave it with this, Depondent Pyre asked if we are doomed to repeat sins over, this ring looping. A metaphor for time repeating itself until the balance is restored. This is still the Reclaimer Saga.
